Kate Moss Does Lipstick
Jan 26, 2012
Just when you thought Kate Moss has done it all, she creates a lipstick collection with Rimmel. Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss is set to launch this spring and will feature five of the model’s favorite hues: deep brick red, royal purple, dusty rose, candy coral and blushed nude. The creamy formula is cased in a black tube, sealed with Kate’s signature. Anything this fashionista touches turns to sheer coolness; you might want to snatch up a tube or two.
3 Legit, Inexpensive Exfoliators
Jan 24, 2012
Skin has a way of taking on reptilian qualities this time of year. In order to allow your creams and serums to fully penetrate your skin, exfoliation is key. The Beauty Girl and I are both maj fans of ExfoliKate (check out her interview with Somerville!), but the stuff can cost you close to $90. Here are three great exfoliators, at lower price points, that I’m digging right now:
Queen Helene Gentle Oatmeal 'n Honey Natural Facial Scrub ($5) Cheap, gentle and light enough for everyday use: it’s the Cetaphil of exfoliators.
It’s esthetician approved and the creamy formula sloughs off dead skin cells lickety-split.
Biore SkinPreservation Even Smoother Microderm Exfoliator ($14) A quick 30-60 second massage of the alumina crystals, the same type used in professional microdermabrasion, clears all traces of sallowness. It’s also infused with ceramides and antioxidants that amp up its anti-aging benefits. My makeup is going on smoother.
philosophy the microdelivery micro-massage exfoliating wash ($8-$58) Virtually fragrance free with eensie weensie particles, it’s far from irritating. Again,
a 30-60 massage reveals a refreshed, glowy complexion. I’ve found that the scrubbing action works up a satisfying, light froth. Use it at night to clear pores of a day’s worth of grime and prep skin for the rest of your nighttime routine.

Give Yourself A Realistic Winter Tan
Jan 20, 2012You don't need to flaunt the fact that you were in a tropical destination during winter break by coming back with an obnoxious, unhealthy tan (it will peel off anyway). Nor do you need to overcompensate for having not been away by loading on the bronzer (it will make your face look more dirty than anything). Read the story I wrote below for makeup.com and follow these self-tanning tips for a natural looking way to warm up your winter skin.

Iris Apfel Brings Her Spunk To MAC
Jan 13, 2012
Jewelry designer, interior designer, fashion icon extraordinaire, Iris Apfel, has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to create a makeup collection inspired by her eccentric style. The spunky lip, eye and nail colors ooze Apfel—especially the hot pink, orange and red lipsticks. There’s a clear emphasis on color (think teal eye shadow and magenta nail lacquer) but there are a few nudes laced throughout to balance the quirky colors. At first glance the collection looks like it’d be suited for a younger crowd, but hey—the ninety year old is painting on the fun and we think she looks damn good doing it. posted by Cody

Hand Sanitizers for Germaphobes
Jan 5, 2012Baby Rex is already 4 months old. He's growing like a champ and hasn't caught the slightest bit of a cold -- even with my hubby and I being under the weather (I hope I'm not jinxing myself!). To keep my little guy germ-free, I've been spritzing and slathering myself with every hand sanitizing wipe, spray and wash I could find. Two of my favorites:
CleanWell. The products are alchohol free, kill bacteria with plant oils and beyond affordable.
Eve Echo. If ever there was a luxurious way to clean, this is it. I appreciate the pretty packaging and enjoy the various lightly scented formulas such as lavendar and sweet mango to name a few. Plus, the company donates their profits to help impoverished women with business.
Here's to starting out the New Year with a clean slate!
Guide to Your Most Gorgeous Curls
Jan 3, 2012After years of watching my curly girlfriends do their hair, it’s become clear that the Holy Book of Healthy Bouncy Curls is something they all follow religiously. Some commandments include: never brush through dry curls; shampoo only a couple times per week; a wide-toothed comb is your best
friend.
One to tack on: Add Mixed Chicks to thy repertoire of hair products. Originally created for multi-cultural women with coarse hair, the hair care line has become a cult favorite amongst curly-haired chicks of every flavor.
There are all kinds of products including shampoos and conditioners, thermal protection potions, and styling products. The great thing is that the formulas are really moisturizing, which is essential because naturally wavey locks tend to be on the dry side, but not heavy. Of the entire line, highlights include: the sulfate free shampoo, the detangling deep conditioner, and the leave-in conditioner. As one loyal customer/friend puts it, "They define my curls and eliminate frizz better than anything else I've tried." That’s such an impressive endorsement, now my straight haired self is itching to lather up. (posted by Cody)
