Some people sacrifice to afford designer clothes. I’ll skimp wherever necessary for travel. I’ll never run out of places to go. I love brainstorming where my next trip will be while I’m on vacation. My most recent was to the Ritz Carlton Reserve in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico.
Being that our second son was born seven months ago, my husband and I were in serious need of a sun, spa and sleep retreat. The property is not even a year old, and it has all of the bells and whistles. Our room had screen doors that welcomed the fresh breeze and calming sounds of the ocean, which lulled us to bed every night. The manicured grounds are decorated with gorgeous gardens, and the spa is a destination in and of itself. Here are some of the trip highlights.
Call me an over-packer, but when I go on a beach vacation, one area I never cut back on is sunblock. Each one has a purpose to ensure a safe fun-in-the-sun strategy. Here’s what I brought:
1. LaRoche Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid and Neova DNA Damage Control Active SPF 45 are great on the face and won’t cause breakouts.
2. I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch on my body; my hubby likes it on his face and body.
3. SuperGoop Sunscreen Mist goes in my beach bag because it makes reapplication at the beach or post swim mess free.
4. This travel size bottle of Avene Thermal Spring Water comes on the plane to refresh my skin mid-flight (yes, I can be that girl). I’ll also use it to cool off at the pool.

Spa Botanica: Everything about the spa is spectacular, from its dramatic entrance with an intoxicating herbal aroma to the plunge pools (shown left) and tree house spa rooms (shown right) where I experienced the signature tree house massage.

I’m leaving you with a little moment of peace I captured during a walk on the beach. I play it whenever I need a time out 🙂
