If you’ve ever dared to be different but didn’t have the gall to, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s frontwoman Karen O will give you a little nudge. The New York Times Magazine has described her as a “Gen Y style icon.”Even if her look confuses you, her creativity is worth admiring. Last night at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom she didn’t disappoint. Dressed in leopard print leggings and a quirky leotard-esque top that summoned the 4th of July, the singer’s wackadoodle hipster getup was unforgiving, inspiring and representative of this indie rock band’s no holds back vibe. Of course, she wore her signature bold red lip—a simple look anyone can do and an easy first step toward experimentation. Julie Hewett lipstick in femme noir is one glam shade to get you started.
