Sand GoneAfter a visit to the sea, it seems that the entire beach manages to make it back home with us. In the mudroom, in the showers, between the sheets—you’d think a sandstorm swept through the place.

Sand has a way of clinging to ocean-drenched skin. No matter how vigorously you towel dry, it manages to hide in every nook and cranny—between fingers and toes, nuzzled into hair follicles, on the backs of knees and, uh, in our beach bums.

I recently brought a new product called Sand Gone on vacation with me. It’s a flour-y like powder made from vegetable and plant starches that works to release stubborn sand from skin. (If you’re into coconut, you’ll love the yummy scent). I brushed the powder puff between my toes after walking along the shoreline and found that it cleaned up my little piggies in a cinch.

However, I think it’s suited for the more serious, down and dirty beachgoer on a summer day-trip. A towel would have sufficed for just dusting off my feet, but for all the little tots that frolic in the sand all day—nuh uh. Eight hours of burying each other in the sand, building sand castles and boogy boarding racks up some serious sand mileage. It’s a beach day staple for mothers and their sand-clad kiddies. I’m keeping it in my beach tote for when my little one arrives.
