loveyourselfie

I’m so excited to announce that I’ve collaborated on a book Love Yourself(ie) with Andrea Lewis to help preteens prevent social media from deflating their self worth. Too many kids allow the number of "likes" they get on social media influence their self-esteem and perception of beauty. This book is a fictional story about a girl named Harper who learns to use self-acceptance to filter social media and manage peer pressure.

Andrea and I celebrating Love Yourself(ie) hitting #1 on Amazon in its first 24 hours!

My Aha moment for this book came when I was speaking on a panel about Selfies & Surgery. We present an image to the world that is shadowed by angles, filters and apps, and this isn’t a true reflection of ourselves. Being a mom to two toddlers, it’s scary to think about the power social media has on how our children view themselves. While there are resources to help parents navigate these issues, until now, kids were on their own. Love Yourself(ie) is a unique story kids can see themselves in, with a practical perspective and advice they can use to understand what they’re feeling and become more confident and true to themselves. Beauty is about being your most authentic self, and we hope this story resonates with millions of kids. Love Yourself(ie) is now available on Amazon, and we hope you’ll embrace our mission. The more you can help us spread the word by sharing this post, sharing our message with hashtag #loveyourselfiebook and getting your own copy, together we’ll give kids — and the parents, educators and youth advocates guiding them — more resources to build self-love, determination and resilience.
