I met celebrity makeup artist Troy Surratt when I had my first job as a beauty editor. Troy, who worked for Revlon at the time, introduced me to my original signature berry lip color (Cherries In The Glow). He’s an industry veteran who’s a favorite makeup artist for countless A-listers such as Adele, Adriana Lima, Kristin Davis and Charlize Theron, and I’m excited to celebrate his latest accomplishment — his eponymous makeup brand. It’s truly smart and sophisticated makeup; he really did think of everything. For example, there are plenty of berry and nude lip colors out there, but his are expertly fine tuned so they aren’t too bold or too bland. The best way I can describe the packaging is that it reminds me of Victoria Beckham’s design label — sleek and simple. The products themselves are innovative. I love the makeup so much, I’m giving one person the chance to win a suite of the cult-favorite products valued at over $150! Scroll down to enter the giveaway!

Troy was inspired by his travels to Japan and saw the need for smart, modern and innovative makeup in America. In his collection you’ll find smokey eye batons, customizable palettes and colour-pop lip crayons. The packaging is a shimmery, oil-slick color with matte black writing that embodies the brand’s futuristic and sophisticated vibes.

While we’re digging the luxurious formulas, bright colors and chic packaging, we appreciate Troy’s smart approach to makeup. During his annual trips to Japan he would study how Japanese makeup was made. He found that the Japanese evaporate water from their powders to make powder velvety and blendable. His eyeliners are inspired by Japanese calligraphy pens,  which make for a clean application, and his lip colors are shaped for better coverage and long-lasting wear.

We haven’t tried a lip color we haven’t liked. We LOVE this nude!. The Lipslique, Lip Lustre and the Automatique Lip Crayons are great. And the award-winning eyelash curler is a cult favorite.

Surratt’s customizable palettes are something few brands offer. Instead of buying a pre-chosen palette, each palette is designed to be chosen and popped in by consumers. This goes for blush, shadows and other pigments. Troy encourages the modern woman to customize what is best for her own skin tone, eye color and general beauty preference.
