At first glance, you probably think the only way to get this polished ponytail is to pay for it at a salon. However, it’s surprisingly easy to do yourself. To start, make sure hair is stick straight, and use a clear elastic band to secure your ponytail.
Aveda did the sleek ponys (shown left) at the Stella McCartney Fall/Winter 2013 Collection. Here are some of their best tips to get this style:
1. Smooth hair is very important, so blow dry hair straight with a round brush followed by flat-ironing the ends for super straight locks. They used Aveda Air Control for extra hold so fly-aways would stay away.
2. Once hair is dry use the clear elastic band to pull it into a ponytail at the nape of your neck. Then pull a narrow section of hair out and wrap it around the ponytail, pinning the end into place at the base of the tail.
3. Divide of the ponytail and pass your flat iron over the pieces again for a pin-straight finish.
