"It’s about feeling empowered, fearless and clear."

Last month I was invited to an intimate luncheon where we dined in the middle of Neiman Marcus on the 5th floor (see below photo). That was a first. I was there to celebrate the launch of Diana Vreeland Parfums. I have to admit, I didn’t know who Diana Vreeland was before this event. As a magazine editor, I’ve walked the same halls as Helen Gurley Brown and Anna Wintour, but I didn’t know that Vreeland was their predecessor, having served as the Editor in Chief of both Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue from the late ’50s to early ’70s. Vreeland became a fashion tastemaker, icon and even a consultant for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the stories we heard from her grandson Alexander (that’s him in the photo on the left) were as colorful as the fragrances. The 5 scents are beautifully bottled and each has a point of view:

Simply Divine: If you like fresh, green fragrances you’ll like this one. The main note is tuberose (I think this scent is my favorite).

Extravagance Russe: This juice has a deep amber aroma.

Absolute Vital: Sandalwood is at its heart.

Perfectly Marvelous: Jasmine is the base of this perfume.

Outrageously Vibrant: This scent is for the non conformist and is unique with patchouli casis.
