Would you use these wipes on your va-jay-jay?
Jun 2, 2011
Just when you thought they've thought of everything, cleansing vagina wipes landed on my desk.
Yes, SweetSpot Labs On-The-Go Wipettes were created to freshen up your komadina when it gets funky. The individually packaged wipes are made with aloe vera, cucumber extracts and essential oils and come in a variety of gourmet aromas straight out of a Dean & Deluca! I'm talking basil grapefruit, citrus galbanum and geranium lavender. At first the concept gave me and my fabulous intern Cody a giggle, but hey, isn’t basil grapefruit better than the alternative?
While these wipes are certainly no substitute for a daily shower, nobody’s hoohah is smelling like, well, citrus fruits all day long, they are meant to be used after working out, as a pre-bikini wax primp or even as an alternative shower between yoga and a night out. Who knows, these may just turn out to be your secret weapon when in need of a quick pick-me-up.
The Beauty of the Blizzard
Feb 2, 2011Sam Champion and Al Roker are broadcasting from Chicago. You know what that means. Here comes the snow! We're expecting to get a history-making amount dumped on us. As the inches pile up, we're socked with a snow day and a case of cabin fever.
In times like these, boredom can make us do things we wouldn't normally do. Like, I may take out my crockpot for the first time since receiving it over a year ago for my wedding and cook up some tortilla soup. Or, if the house arrest makes my hubby kooky enough, I may try and convince him to let me wax his back with a new at-home hair removal tool I've been wanting to test out. Ah, the perks of marrying a beauty editor!
So you see, the city shutting down can be an incredible window of opportunity. I'll be honest, my inner Betty Crocker won't be coming out because I don't even think she's in me. But, I can think of a million other things I've been meaning to get to (choosing pictures for my wedding album, trying out the new nail colors, spring makeup and hair products waiting for review, cleaning out the guest bedroom, etc., etc., etc.) but never find the time for. So, along with the drama that this blizzard brings is a little gift of sanity. Mother nature has cleared our schedules, and now we can catch up on some extra me time guilt free. Enjoy!
What will you be doing during this white out?

Would you buy a candle that smells like a hamburger?
Nov 9, 2010Hungry for a new scent? White Castle is now selling a candle that smells like a slider, with notes of burger and onion. I can't imagine it will spark up the romance, but one whiff will make you feel like a piece of meat. If you dare, the candle is $13, available at White Castle locations.
The Beauty Girl Gets A Facelift!
Oct 27, 2010Besides picking my wedding dress, choosing the right look for The Beauty Girl website has been the most tedious, drawn out process of my life. Seriously. Finding my husband was a walk in the park!
Well, I'm so glad and relieved to finally introduce you to the new and improved TheBeautyGirl.com. We've come a long way and gotten to know each other since my inaugural post. This redesign has been been months and months in the making, and I hope that you find the updated site, logo and tools user friendly, easy to navigate and downright pretty. I've added features like my highlight reel, the option to read related stories in each post, a video describing The Beauty Girl Parties & Events, a Press page and more. So, please take a look-see, play around and take it all in.
As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My goal is that I met your expectations. Either way, I'd love to hear what you think.

What I'm Loving Right Now -- Nars Vintage Nail Polish
Oct 5, 2010
If I'm not a big enough name to convince you that the new limited-edition Nars polishes are as coveted as a vintage Versaci, look to celebs including Jada Pinkett Smith and fashionistas like Rachel Zoe (shown left), who are crazy for the stunning shades. The release of the Vintage collection re-introduces five high-gloss lacquers with a longwear formula that's water and detergent resistant. United by the theme of classic cinema, each color is named for a movie and its original launch date is listed. I'm mesmerized by Zulu. What about you?
Mash (1996): Army green infused with gold; King Kong (1996): Copper brown infused with gold; Midnight Express (1996): Deep navy; Zulu (1996): Forest green; Full Metal Jacket (1998): Gunmetal grey
Click here to purchase the polishes ($16 each) while supplies last.

Best Hot Tools For Your Hair
Sep 22, 2010We're all on the quest for enlightenment. My "aha" moments are not always as profound as Oprah's, but they do come. A few years back I was meeting with a top hairstylist who was showing me how to create the Victoria's Secret waves every women wants (heck, we may not be blessed with those Amazons' curves, so at least let our hair have their body). He whipped out the curling iron and went to town twirling sections of my hair around the wand. The thing is, he never once touched the clunky clamp that is normally used to set the curl. That was my OMG moment. Who knew it was a million times easier to curl your hair by simply wrapping it around the barrel, holding hair in place for a few seconds and then gently loosening your grip. This instantly became one of my favorite tips, and I've been sharing it ever since. Well ladies, the curling iron community has finally caught on. Two of my favorite new models are sleek and simple sans the old fashioned, hard-to-use clamp.
Sultra's Bombshell curling iron has a one-inch rod and comes with gloves so your fingertips can perfectly style each kink without being bothered by the heat.
Remington's new TIStudio Pearl Ceramic Professional Styling Wand is designed like a cone (it's narrower at the tip and wider at the base) so you can create skinny and fat curls and also comes with a heat-protective glove.
I stopped by Ulta on State St. for the product launch and learned that not only does the iron have a smart design, the new T-Studio line, which also includes a dryer, hot roller set and a flat iron, is made with a breakthrough Pearl technology that infuses a heat-protective and shine-enhancing silicone-based conditioner into strands. I spoke with said celeb hairstylist Richard Marin (shown below), a favorite of Megan Fox, Tina Fey and Cindy Crawford, who said he's a fan. "The technology makes hair shiny and gives it better slip so it's easier to work with."
Exclusive "The Beauty Girl" Deal: 15% OFF Go-Girl Products!
Sep 17, 2010I discovered a great website that is totally in tune with my mantra "Beauty Shouldn't Be A Bitch." ShopGoGirl.com features practical products that will get you out of a beauty or fashion pinch and save you from an embarrassing moment when you're on the go.
My favorites are the double-sided tape (it was originally discovered as one of the tricks celebs like J. Lo use to keep their dresses in place, and it's one of my staples whenever I wear slinky tops or need an emergency hemline fix) and the Lint-On-The-Go-Sheets. I love that you can stash these portable sheets in your purse so you never have to deal with annoying lint, hair strands or napkin fuzz again.

To help get your weekend off on a positive, starting today, The Beauty Girl readers get 15% off the entire Go-Girl website! Just enter the code "BeautyGirl" in the coupon code box at checkout and click redeem. This exclusive deal ends Sept. 24th!
