Perfect Shade For Just-Bitten Lips

Beauty writers, including myself, are guilty of over-using certain phrases when talking about products. Imagine how many pinky-red lipsticks are described as giving a "just-bitten lip look."
However, there's one that really, truly creates a gorgeous flush on lips. It's Clinique lipstick in Black Honey. This isn't a new color. It's actually been a best seller for years. I'd go so far as to say it's a "cult classic" (yes, that's another over-used beauty term). What is new is that Black Honey now comes in a dual-ended stick -- one side is a sheer lipstick and the other is a gloss. You may be questioning my judgement from looking at the above photo here. The color does look black. But, swipe it on like I did for this picture, and you'll see how the hue transforms into this juicy, translucent deep cherry.

Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss is set to launch this spring and will feature five of the model’s favorite hues: deep brick red, royal purple, dusty rose, candy coral and blushed nude. The creamy formula is cased in a black tube, sealed with Kate’s signature. Anything this fashionista touches turns to sheer coolness; you might want to snatch up a tube or two.

1. On dry hair, layer Pureology Root Lift from roots to tips. Blowdry with a medium round brush for volume.
2. Working around the head, wrap hair around a 1” iron creating soft curls.
4. Separate curls with finger, Apply Anti Breakage Twist for added texture and definition.
5. Backcomb (tease) the crown for volume and finish with a mist of hairspray.

Iris Apfel Brings Her Spunk To MAC

Jewelry designer, interior designer, fashion icon extraordinaire, Iris Apfel, has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to create a makeup collection inspired by her eccentric style. The spunky lip, eye and nail colors ooze Apfel—especially the hot pink, orange and red lipsticks. There’s a clear emphasis on color (think teal eye shadow and magenta nail lacquer) but there are a few nudes laced throughout to balance the quirky colors. At first glance the collection looks like it’d be suited for a younger crowd, but hey—the ninety year old is painting on the fun and we think she looks damn good doing it. posted by Cody

Maybelline just sent photos from its coveted 2012 limited edition calendar to beauty editors, and as soon as I opened the images, I had to share. All of the brand's spokesmodels were photographed by Kenneth Willardt in NYC and were transformed by a dream team of creative talent including makeup artist Charlotte Willer, stylist Patricia Field and hair stylists Serge Normant and Stephane Lancien. The pics are inspiring and spectacular -- just what i hope the New Year to be. Have a healthy and happy New Year!
